The defence track of the Ukraine Facility Platform focuses on developing a strategy for integrating Ukraine’s defence-industrial complex into Europe’s defence and security architecture and its defence-industrial ecosystem.
Ukraine’s security and Europe’s security are interconnected, and the EU’s ability to close its own capability gaps directly depends on overcoming fragmentation, slow innovation cycles, and divergent national approaches. In this context, cooperation with Ukraine should not be seen as an auxiliary element, but as part of Europe’s response to growing security challenges.
We promote the following ideas:
- shifting from one-off military assistance to long-term industrial and technological integration with Ukraine;
- developing joint production, R&D, and integrated supply chains between Ukraine and EU countries;
- including Ukraine in European defence instruments and programmes as a full-fledged partner;
- removing regulatory, investment, and procedural barriers that hinder cooperation and scaling;
- building a joint EU-Ukraine defence ecosystem capable of adapting rapidly to changes in the nature of warfare.
Our focus is to integrate Ukraine into Europe’s defence ecosystem as a partner that shortens the path from innovation to battlefield capability through a unique combination of experience, engineering potential, and industrial agility.
