She served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for European Integration from 2014 to 2019 and represented Ukraine in international legal proceedings against the Russian Federation. Prior to that, she held senior positions at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. From 2020 to 2024, Lana Zerkal worked in the field of energy diplomacy, focusing also on the integration of Ukraine’s and the EU’s energy systems. She served as an Advisor to the CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine and Ukrenergo, and worked with the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. She also headed a UNDP project assessing the damage inflicted on Ukraine’s energy sector by Russia’s aggression.
