He served as EU Ambassador to Ukraine from 2016 to 2019, where he played a central role in supporting Ukraine’s reform agenda and implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.

Previously, he was Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the EEAS and Deputy Director-General responsible for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, North Africa, the Middle East, and the European Neighbourhood Policy.
